Our Rose

Our rose is a symbol
A sister, a song
It is life, it is love, a sense of right and wrong.

The petals are the right
The thorns are the wrong
But it all represents our life that is strong

We must take care of her
For a rose will soon fade
Our rose is our Earth, a lovely golden maid

Our World

A place where many flowers grow
Bluebells, roses, and lilies
A garden.

A place where there are lots of trees
Oak, maple, and pine
The forest.

A place where there are animals
Deer, buffalo, and fish
An Earth.

A place where there are people
African, American, European, Asian
On land.

A place where there are living things,
Flowers, trees, animals, people
Our world.

Something I didn’t decide to submit, but wrote for the 2013 Nature Poetry Contest at Roscoe Wilson Elementary School.
