So I came home from work tonight, and Kris had the little ones outside in the front yard. You remember Mary Poppins friend, Burt? Nope, he didn’t have anything on my kids … there was sidewalk chalk everywhere! The names of everyone in our family had been carefully sounded out and written, letter by letter, up and down the front walk. Colors, shapes, rainbows, flowers, tic-tac-toe games, and whole concrete squares temporarily disguised in powdery pastels until the next rainstorm. It looked so fun I couldn’t help but get in the action … without even changing out of my work clothes, I sat down to join in. Thirty minutes later our Friday night DiGiorno’s was ready, and it was time to take baths. "Be careful, Daddy, don’t walk on the pretty steps!"
It’s been more than a year since I actually "blogged" anything, and for some reason I decided that today was going to be a "time to giddy-up" – "back in the saddle" – "play it again sam" kind of day. So I actually updated my information in facebook, delployed movabletype on my personal blog space, and ate a good sized cup of homemade Butterfinger ice cream … all during the kids’ nap time. (Kris was out cold, too.)
Not a bad to-do list for a sleepy, rainy, relaxed Sunday afternoon, if I do say so myself.
