It’s hard to believe …

Caedmon and Daddy, having a conversation about Emmy’s recent nightmare:

“Daddy, Emmy thinks that the Brain Washer from Ruff Ruffman is going to come and wash away her memories of you.”

“That’s all imaginary, Buddy.”

“I know.

… but still, she thinks that the devil is trying to take away her peace in rest.”

“Really?”

“Yes.  Daddy, is the devil alive?”

“Yes, buddy, he is.”

“Still?  Even though Jesus won the victory?”

“Yes, buddy.  He is still alive.  The bible even tells us that he isn’t lazy, but he’s always trying to rob us from the full life, peace, and rest that Jesus gives us.”

“Hmmm.  But can’t he die?”

“The bible says he will be destroyed, which sounds like dead, gone, and totally done forever, if you ask me.  Maybe it is even more dead than dead.”  (Hebrews 2:14; Ezekiel 28: 14-19)

“Wow.  God can do that?”

“Yes.”  (1 Timothy 1:17; 1 Timothy 6:13-16; John 5:20-23)

“No one can ever kill God.  He’s to0 …

… too beautiful.”

“Yes, buddy, he is.”

“That’s hard to believe, because I don’t understand dead.  But, still, I know it is true.”

“You do?”

“Yeah.”

“How do you know?”

Laughs, “Because, daddy … because he let them kill him … Jesus did.” (John 1:1-14; John 16:28; John 19:1-15)

“Yes, buddy, he did.  Why did he do that?”

“Because he loves us and wants us to know the …

… um … the …”

“… the glory of God?”

“Right.  Glory.  I couldn’t think of it.”

“That’s okay, buddy.  I like helping you.”

“Me too.  The devil couldn’t keep him dead, though.  He’s too beautiful.” (Galatians 1:1; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 2:9; Revelation 1:17-18)

Finding it difficult to speak at this point.  “That’s right, buddy … beautiful.

… May you know the glory of God and rest each day and night in his love and the peace of his presence.  Sleep tight.”

“I will.  You too.  And Mommy.”

“Okay, buddy, we will.  Good night, my wise warrior.  Daddy loves you.”

S.O.A.P is Suprisingly and Sufficiently Simple

Simplicity is beautiful. Craig (Dutch) Langemeier introduced us to SOAP at camp this past week, and already I can see the impact of the simple structure in guiding, directing, and encouraging my time in the Word. I’m posting it here so you might be encouraged and consider trying it out … http://j.mp/soapintro.

Alissa and Andy pointed us to …http://bibleyear.com/ also, as a good place to go for a Bible reading plan to follow.
