While there certainly are advantages and bragging rights to your 7 year-old having an exceptionally high reading ability, Kristen just told me about 2 recent conversations with Emmy; one, where she had been reading her Bible and wanted to know what it meant when it said ‘sexual sin;’ and the other where she had gone for flu shots at the doctor, and took some time to read the available literature … leading her to ask, “Mommy, what are Genital warts?”
Now how do you respond to that … really? Ahhhh … yes, the joys of parenting … it takes your breath away. :)
